PANJIM: The amicus curie appointed by the High Court of Bombay at Goa regarding illegal structures along the beach of Anjuna-Caisua village panchayat has mentioned mapping of all the structures within No Development Zone (NDZ) by the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR).
The HC has also directed the panchayat to immediately issue orders to stop the ongoing construction activity along the beach.

Adv Abhijit Gosavi, who is the amicus curie in the suo motu petition in the matter of illegal constructions along the Anjuna beach, has submitted that the site inspection report jointly carried out by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) and the Anjuna-Caisua village panchayat does not cover all the structures/areas in the NDZ. He has stated that the joint inspection teams had only identified structures in ‘properties abutting the beach within the NDZ’ and therefore it would be appropriate that the DSLR be asked to carry out mapping of all the structures within the NDZ area.
During the 10-day joint site inspection, the two teams had identified as many as 271 structures abutting the beach within the NDZ area.
The amicus curie has also suggested that the State government and the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) should put in place appropriate mechanism to reconstitute the GCZMA immediately after the end of its term.
