MARGAO: In a shocking incident, a four-year-old minor girl studying in kindergarten in Salcete complained of sexual abuse by the 64-year old caretaker of a school van on Thursday.
In a swift action, the Margao police arrested the accused ~ Leao Diniz ~ following a complaint lodged by the mother of the girl. Police said the victim girl was studying in the nursery school reportedly run by the wife of the accused. The accused, police said, was a caretaker and was involved in picking up children and dropping them back home in his Maruti van.
The incident came to light this morning when the victim complained that the accused allegedly touched her private part while transporting her home after school. The girl was found in a depressed state when she was dropped home by the accused. She is alleged to have narrated the incident to her mother and immediate neighbour. The mother is believed to have immediately taken the victim to a private doctor, who advised her to complain to the police since it was a medico-legal case.
The accused has been arrested under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and section four of the Goa Children’s Act. Police said both the accused and the victim will be subjected to medical examination.

Meanwhile, the families of two minor girls from Uttar Pradesh who had run from home and were rescued by the Goa Railway Police at Margao KRC railway station on June 13 arrived in Margao on Wednesday to take possession of the girls.
The Margao KRC railway station police on June 13 had detained two girls aged 10 and 13 years after they were suspiciously found roaming at the station. The duo on being questioned confessed to have run away from home on June 9 to Mumbai from where they came down to Goa on June 13 when they were detained. Presently both girls are at Apna Ghar at Merces and they will be handed over to their respective families on Friday.
