PANJIM: Ananya Mukherjee, standard eight student of Our Lady of the Rosary High School, Dona Paula made Goa proud by winning the National individual championship as well as the gold medal in the girls under-14 category in biathle at 5th Modern Pentathlon National championship, organized by Tamil Nadu Modern Pentathlon Association in Mamallapuram, Chennai from August 25 to 28.
Ananya ran 500 meters, swam 100 meters in the open sea and then ran another 500 meters.
Taran Mukherjee, 10th standard student of Sharada Mandir School, Mira Mar secured silver medal in boys under-16 category. He ran one kilometre, swam 200 meters in the open sea and then ran another one kilometre to secure a second place finish. He competed with several other opponents from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and other. Taran and Ananya have been selected to represent India at the World Biathle Championship to be held in Guatemala. The duo received their training from swimming coach, Deepak Chettri at SAG swimming pool, Campal.
