MAPUSA: Churchill Bros registered a solitary goal win over Dempo in a GFA U-20 football league match at Sangolda ground, Sangolda, Thursday.
Alesh Sawant scored the all-important goal in the 15th minute through a solo effort after making a promising run from the midfield to the rival territory and drilling home past Dempo goalkeeper Saudesh Madkholkar.
Dempo tried hard to get back into the game but were down to ten-man before half time after referee Valenton Fernandes sent off Nerry Alfonso for a double booking.
Changing over, Dempo started attackingly but their strikers lacked sharpness.
In the dying minutes, Churchill’s Amrit Singh was red carded after receiving a second yellow from the referee.
