PANJIM: Nine Higher Secondary Schools have come out with flying colours in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination by recording a pass percentage of over 95% with two higher secondaries securing 100% pass percentage, according to information released by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
Two schools ~ Kamaleshwar Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha’s Higher Secondary School at Corgao Pernem and Damodar Higher Secondary School of Science recorded 100% pass percentage.
Shikshan Prasarak HSS offers education in Arts and Commerce streams and all 48 students from the science stream and 58 students from the commerce stream passed the exams. At Damodar HSS, Margao, all the 111 students who appeared in the science stream, passed.
Other colleges which secured 95% and above pass percentage include Carmel HSS Nuvem, Rosary HSS Navelim, Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS Verna, Dnyanprasarak Mandal HSS Mulgao, Bicholim, Raghuvir and Premavati Salkar HSS Chorao, Mushtifund HSS and Mushtifund Aaryan HSS both in Panjim.
At the other end of the spectrum is St Xavier’s Academy, a school for the differently-abled in Old Goa, which unfortunately secured zero pass percentage as all of the five students who appeared from the Academy were marked ‘Needs Improvement’.
Jadeed HSS, Indira Nagar, Chimbel too recorded a low percentage with just three of the ten students who attempted from the vocational stream making it through the exam.
