MARGAO: A 26-year-old woman tourist from Belarus has complained to the Colva police that two persons outraged her modesty and made an abortive bid to commit rape before robbing her of her valuables at Sernabatim beach on late Tuesday night.
Acting on the compliant, the Colva police registered an offence under section 376-D read with 511 and section 394 IPC against two unknown persons.
The incident occurred on late April 30 night when the complainant, who is putting up at a hotel at Sernabatim, headed to the beach between 11.30 pm to 11.45 pm.
Two unknown persons are believed to have approached her and after brief discussions, one of them suddenly pulled her to a canoe anchored on the beach, while the other held her mouth.
The sturdy built person tried to remove her clothes and was about to commit rape on the victim, but they fled from the scene leaving the victim alone after noticing some movement.
However, before making good their escape under the cover of darkness, the duo lifted away the victim’s bag containing Rs 600, 104 US dollars, some Bellarus rubbles and one camera all worth Rs 65,000.
