CHICALIM: Benaulim Veterans blanked Chinchinim Veterans 5-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Vasco Veterans football tournament at Village Panchyat ground, Chicalim, on Wednesday.
It took two minutes for Benaulim Veterans to open the account through Tiago Fernandes’ neatly placed shot.
Chinchinim Veterans’ Mahesh Lotlikar’s long ranger was blocked by Robin Pinheiro of Benaulim Veterans in the 8th minute.
Benaulim Veterans attacked yet again to try and score a goal but Cajie Fernandes goalkeeper of Chinchinim pushed away the ball to safety of Tiago’s half volley in the tenth minute.
Robin Pinheiro of Benaulim buttressed the account in the 12th minute.
It was Benaulim side who took control of the game thereafter with Tiago scoring yet another goal to make it 3-0 in the 31st minute.
Robin Pinheiro made the issue safe (4-0) in the 37th minute.
Bashir Bepari added his name on the score sheet for Benaulim Veterans to take the tally to 5-0, in the 53rd minute.
