CURCHOREM/SHIRODA: In Curchorem Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised that an AAP government will undertake the work of constructing a mining bypass immediately, while in Shiroda he promised job reservations for the Scheduled Tribe community as well as seats for them in the Assembly. He also alleged that the government in Goa had diverted ST funds for development projects.
At Curchorem, taking a dig at Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, he said the BJP government failed to recover Rs 36,000 crore and punish those involved in illegal mining even after promising to do so.
Speaking of his performance in Delhi he said, “I made electricity cheaper besides giving free water. We started 106 Mohalla clinics to give instant and free treatment along with medicines for people and the concept has been appreciated around the world.”
Appealing to the people to think and vote wisely and not to fall prey to false promises made during the campaign, AAP Cuncolim and chief ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes said the party will not do any U-turns on any issues.
Stating that Congress and BJP are two sides of the same coin, he said people see the same old faces of MLAs, ministers right from childhood. “AAP has selected good, educated, efficient and noble candidates to contest the election and there is a wave for a change as people are fed up with the present regime,” Gomes said.
Curchorem candidate James Fernandes said that if AAP wins in Curchorem then it will be a people’s victory. Assuring to solve the truck owners’ demand to increase the transportation rate and the people’s demand for a mining bypass, he said he will not allow the proposed garbage treatment plant and rail freight terminal at Assolda.
Speaking in Shiroda, Kejriwal said AAP has a clean image and has provided clean candidates in 40 constituencies, and if Goans want a corruption-free government all they have to do is press the button on broom and clean the State.
He said that in 2012 there was a strong wave against Congress and the wave is now against BJP. Kejriwal said Congress and BJP looted Goa and bridges and infrastructure works have been carried out at double the rates which AAP will put to end to.
He said AAP will implement the Delhi Model of development for Goa with clinic providing free medical treatment, improve government schools, and provide electricity and water at cheaper rates.
Gomes said that the party manifesto has been prepared by taking the people into confidence. He said based on the Delhi model better education and health facilities will be provided.
Shiroda AAP candidate Molu Velip said Congress and BJP failed to develop the constituency and there is not even a single toilet constructed in Shiroda Bazaar.
