PANJIM: Goa Police has appealed to the people to remain alert about a fake e-challan website that resembles the original website launched by the department.
The official Twitter account of the officiating Director General of Police Jaspal Singh said that some criminals have launched fake websites resembling the original website for traffic challan payments online.

The Twitter handle has also uploaded a link of the original website asking people to pay their challans through this link and ignore all other websites. “Beware! Some criminals have launched fake websites resembling the original website for traffic challan payments online! Remember log on to only – echallan.parivahan.gov.in to pay your challans! Ignore all other websites,” the post says.
An advisory uploaded with the Tweet states, “An input is received regarding a fake website https:/echallanparivahan.in used to misguide common citizen and fraudulently collecting online payment for fake traffic violation cases. The site has a similar URL and look and feel of genuine site https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in.
The genuine site is developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) e-Transport project which facilitates online challan intimation and accepts e-payment on behalf of approximately 20 States.”
The police department said the general public is advised to take a note of the fake website and not to make e-payments on it.
