PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday said the State government’s poor COVID management is putting Goan people’s lives at risk.

“The government should increase the testing facilities and hospital infrastructure across the State to save the people from COVID infection,” AAP stated.
The party criticised Chief Minister Dr Sawant’s statement saying 95 per cent of COVID deaths are due to co-morbidities and five per cent are because the people came late for treatment.
AAP spokesperson Surel Tilve said, “The Chief Minister wants to hide the failures of his government by blaming innocent Goans, if the ambulance services to ferry the patients are not there then how will poor patients reach hospital on time? If people are not getting tested in time, how will they be able to get admitted in hospitals at the right time? What is the use of ‘overpriced’ ventilators when the government is unable to provide them to critical patients?”
“The very purpose of ventilators is to provide life support to serious patients. Why don’t you tell the truth that you don’t have proper infrastructure to deal with COVID pandemic? The government needs to build a more transparent system for the Goans to know about the available COVID facilities in their area. The people are unaware about the number of hospital beds available in their area. The New Delhi government solved this efficiently by making all the data transparent through an App,” he said.
“The State government should start providing hospital beds status on a real time basis locality wise. Least they can do is to publish it in the daily health bulletin. Also, it is appalling that the number of COVID ambulances have just not increased despite the Health Minister assuring the same recently.”
