The villagers had earlier gheraoed Secretary Rupesh Harlankar for not issuing an inspection notice to Goa Paradise over its revised plan for a residential and commercial mega project and also his rude behaviour. They raised the issue again on Sunday and slammed him for his lack of cooperation.
However, Halarnkar did not attend the meeting as he was on sick leave. The Block Development Officer sent Bandora Secretary Sushant Naik to conduct the gram sabha on his behalf. The villagers then condemned the threats made by some people to the sarpanch if she failed to issue a license to revised plan of the mega project in Betki-Khandola.
The villagers also demanded a common sewerage treatment plant for houses and residential colonies so that the village remained pollution-free. They resolved that all houses should be connected to the STP.
