PANJIM: The Lokayukta, after holding a preliminary hearing on Thursday in the illegal appointment of a peon in Goa State Planning Board, directed the Director of Planning to produce the file pertaining to the appointment of Diksha Pednekar and adjourned the matter to July 4.
The Lokayukta also directed that a notice be issued to the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Dattaprasad Kholkar, and directed the Director of Vigilance to be present at the next hearing.
Social activist advocate Aires Rodrigues had filed a case with the Goa Lokayukta accusing Kholkar, and then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, for illegally and fraudulently appointing Diksha as peon in Planning Board office at Porvorim.
Rodrigues had alleged that though Diksha was appointed on June 6, 2012, she has never worked in that position or for that matter never entered the Secretariat at Porvorim which has the office of the Deputy Chairman of the Goa State Planning Board and where she was supposed to work.
The complaint further alleged that Diksha’s work as peon in the office of the Deputy Chairman of the Goa Planning Board was being carried out by her husband Dhananjay Pednekar who is a member of Pomburpa-Olaulim Panchayat.
