CANACONA: The traffic along the Karmalghat section of National Highway 17 came to a standstill for nearly one and half hour causing hardships to the commuters, on Thjursday. One could see long queues of vehicles on the either side of the road.
According to police, a loaded trailer went off the road, completely blocking the traffic. Fortunately, the vehicle was prevented from falling into the ravine by the crash barriers. The left and front portion of the vehicle was totally damaged, but luckily no one was injured.
Police say that in the last ten years, more than 100 accidents have occurred along this stretch.
