DyCM asks MMC to upgrade Sada plant

VASCO: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza Thursday asked the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to send a proposal to the government for upgrading the existing municipal solid waste treatment (MSWT) plant at Headland-Sada into plastic fuel plant.

VASCO: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza Thursday asked the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) to send a proposal to the government for upgrading the existing municipal solid waste treatment (MSWT) plant at Headland-Sada into plastic fuel plant. When such a proposal is received, he said, the government would consider it positively.
Fixing the responsibility of garbage handling and its scientific disposal on the respective municipal councils, D’Souza, who holds the urban development portfolio, asked the civic bodies to redouble their efforts to improve garbage collection and segregation. He also advised them to penalize people who do not cooperate with segregation at source,
The deputy chief minister was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an inspection of Mormugao Municipal Solid Waste Treatment plant at Headland-Sada, on Thursday evening. The inspection was necessitated by the frequent fire incidents there.
