Former chief minister Digambar Kamat felicitated the medal winners in the presence of V. M. Prabhudesai, Director Administration, SAG and Pravin Valvalkar at Nehru Stadium conference hall, Fatorda, on Saturday.
The medal winners are: Sayed Zidane Iqbal (silver medal – 200 mts freestyle), Genevieve Atala D’Costa (silver medal – high board diving, sub-juniors).
In the juniors category: Xavier Michale D’Souza bagged three gold, one silver and one bronze. Gold in 50 mts back stroke and butterfly stroke; silver in 100 mts back stroke, bronze in 200 mts back stroke and set the new meet record in 100 mts butterfly and 50 mts back stroke.
The girls relay team Group 1 consisting of Neetya Halankinar, Suman Patil, Kiran Narvekar and Saachi Gramopadhye won the bronze medal in the 4×200 mts freestyle.
The medal winners of the 31st Sub-Juniors and 41st Juniors National Aquatic Championship 2014 and 68th Senior National Aquatic Championship 2014 held in Kolkata: Genevieve Atala D’Costa won the gold and a bronze medal in 1 metre spring board diving, Aalhad Chati won the bronze medal in high board diving.
Juniors category: Jerry D’Mello, won the gold in 50 metres freestyle and Suman Patil won a silver in 50 metres butterfly.
Talasha Prabhu won silver at the 58th Senior Nationals Aquatic Championship 2014 in Kolkata and bronze at the 35th Nationals Games 2015 held in Thiruvananthapuram.
Kamat speaking on the occasion complemented the medal winners and advised them to keep up their momentum to win more medals.
Earlier, Sudesh Nagvekar welcomed the gathering and compered the function which was attended by the parents of medal winners, coaches and Goa Swimming Association members. Later, Ajay Gramgpadhye proposed a vote of thanks.
