BICHOLIM: The people from Haturlim in Mayem Constituency are upset with all the elected representatives, including their MLA for failing to repair the road that extends from Haturlim junction to Tikhazan in Mayem.
“We don’t know what the MLA and other elected representatives are for. The former MLA, Pravin Zantye, only inspected the road along with a panch but after that nothing happened,” Sanjay Gaonkar, a local from Haturlim claimed.

He is also angry on the present BJP MLA who is given the chairmanship of Horticulture.
“We have elected another BJP MLA but we don’t know what he is going to do about this road. Recently he gave a talk on horticulture but did not speak a word on road repair,” Gaonkar said.
It may be noted that this one km road is in very bad shape and since last several years nothing has been done in this regard. This is one of the busiest roads as many who want to take the Chorao ferry from Bicholim, Mayem, Poira, Narvem and other places take this road.
“There are many accidents that have taken place on this road. Besides a mirror is also required on the sharp turn so prevent accidents,” Gaonkar said.
The people have demanded that this road be immediately repaired. There is also a demand for a speed breaker on this road.
“Since last 15 years no one has repaired this road. We don’t know why all are ignoring this road,” another local Ramnath Haldankar said.
