PANJIM: Strongly condemning
the ‘derogatory’ statements by the young Congress leaders against the senior
leadership, the party has warned its workers against any kind of indiscipline,
stating that the juniors need to act within the ‘limitations’ set by the
national party.

Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) spokesperson and senior leader Jitendra
Deshprabhu said it is unfortunate that young leaders have resented the party
leadership in a very derogatory manner.

“This is not the language of
true Congressman or an educated person, claiming to have knowledge of politics.
The statements are highly condemnable,” Deshprabhu said referring to the
‘grandfather’ tag levied against the party’s senior leaders by a group of young
Congressmen, including party secretary Durgadas Kamat.
“Congress party makes it clear
that nobody (party workers) should cross their limit and speak to the media,
without approaching the leadership. The party has its own discipline and that
needs to be maintained,” the former MLA said.
Deshprabhu said that every
Congress member has certain limitations set by the party and one needs to
follow it. “Party discipline needs to be adhered to,” he said.
Batting for the old faces,
Deshprabhu said that old maturity needs to be around for the young generation
to transform into successful politicians. “Party president Luizinho Faleiro has
repeatedly announced that during the 2017 polls 50 percent new faces would be
introduced,” he said.
He was speaking in presence
of Congress Minority cell chairman Urfan Mulha and spokesperson Avinash
Tavares.
Last week a group of
Congress youngsters including Kamat, Tanvir Khatib, Firoz Khan, Sandeep Naik
and Raylan Cabral had attacked the GPCC leadership demanding that the 17-member
Election and Co-ordination Committee be dissolved, arguing that the faces which
were rejected by the people of Goa in the 2012 polls are members of the
committee.
