Loyola HS outplay St Britto’s HS in State finals, to represent Goa at Nationals

MAPUSA: Loyola High School, Margao, got the better of St Britto’s High School, Mapusa, in the finals of the State level U-14 boys Subroto Mukherjee football tournament played at Santa Cruz football ground, Santa Cruz, organised by the Directorate of sports and Youth affairs.

Before the lemon break, Loyola HS boys were up with a comfortable lead of two goals scored by Rueben Barbosa and Andreas Furtado.

After the change over in the second half, St Britto’s boys played some attacking game but could not manage to break the defence of Loyola High School. 

St Britto’s High Schoolcould manage to score their one late goal through the boots of Rish Pawaskar. 

At the end of regulation time, Loyola High School settled to a 2-1 win.

Loyola HS has now qualified to represent Goa in the National level Subroto Mukherjee League, which is schedule during the mid of October, at Bengaleru, Karnataka.

Chief guest Frankie Mascarenhas, former footballer and present Superintendent of Customs and GST gave away the certificates and trophies to the winners and runners-up of State finals. 

Sanjay Shirodkar, Zonal Sports Organiser, welcomed the guests while State sports organiser Anant Sawal successfully organised the tournament.
