Top seed Tanisi Kirtani stormed into the finals of girls mini-cadets of all-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis tournament organised by Panjim Gymkhana at indoor stadium, Campal.
Tanisi registered an emphatic 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 win over Prutha Parrikar. She will meet Vaishali Chandana who beat Abigail Cunha 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 in the other semis.
In the cadet girls semis, talented Urmila Mense beat Abigail Cunha 11-3, 11-3, 11-2 while Arantxa Noronha beat Tanvi Raikar 5-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9 in a thrilling contest. Urmila Mense moved into the finals of sub-junior girls, beating Laxmi Shetye 11-8, 8-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9 in a close contest where fortunes fluctuated from set to set. R Aishwarya defeated Kafira Rodrigues 11-5, 5-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-5 to set up an exciting title clash with Urmila.
The young and talented Wesley Rosario will be in line for a double crown as he moved into the finals of mini-cadets and cadets boys event. In the mini-cadets semis, Wesley beat Gandhar Thakur 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 to set up a title clash with Varun Gangodkar who beat Athawa Nadkarni 11-8, 11-5, 11-8. In the sub-junior boys semi-final, Wesley scored a comfortable 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 win over Abner Cunha. He will meet the second seeded Mangesh Sakordekar who beat Nandan Sakordekar 11-8, 11-5, 11-3.
Results sub-junior girls (quarters): Urmila Mense beat Roshni Gopani 11-7, 11-5, 14-12. Kafira Rodrigues beat Arantxa Noronha 11-3, 12-14, 11-3, 11-7. Kaxmi Shetye defeated Shyamli Souza 11-7, 11-9,11-8 and R Aishwarya Bharti beat Tanisi Kirtani 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 12-14, 11-1.
