PANJIM: Claiming that fake dentists are practising in the coastal belt of the State and fleecing foreign tourists, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday asked the members of the Indian Dental Association (IDA)-Goa State Branch to identify such fake doctors and report to the authorities concerned for action.
“So many dentists are practicing in the coastal belt area. As I have received two-three complaints so I want to mention here that a few bogus doctors are also there who are practicing in the coastal belt. Many feel that the government should get hold of them but the government can catch them only if someone files a complaint,” Sawant said addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the 18th Goa State IDA Conference 2023 held at a starred hotel in Panjim.

Sawant claimed that these fake dentists are not local Goans and that they are from outside Goa who have come in the state and have started practicing as dentists.
“They (fake dentists) loot foreigners, and if this message goes (out) then it will affect your practice future. Hence I feel that the Dental Association should take the initiative and identify such bogus practitioners and file complaints against them before the police and the Directorate of Health Services,” the Chief Minister added.
He further said that if action is not initiated against them then in future it will negatively affect Goa’s prospects as an ideal medical tourism destination.
Sawant said that the Goa government is committed to support the Dental practitioners in the state and extended support for the development of new branches and modern technologies in Dental treatments, including oral cancer.
