MARGAO: United Against Coal, a frontal organization from the twin villages of Chandor and Guirdolim, offered a peaceful ‘Magnem” (prayer service) to invoke God’s blessings in its fight against the 3 linear projects pushed by the State and Central Governments against the wishes of the people of Goa.
The prayer service held at Chandor was organized in association with Goyant Kollso Naka and other organizations.
Historian Prajal Sakhardande, Abhijit Prabhudesai of GKN, and hundreds of villagers from Chandor were present.
Earlier, they paid tributes to the Father of Opinion Poll Dr Jack Sequeira and Freedom Fighters.
Sakhardande expressed his discontent over the government, which he said is still holding on to the linear projects even after massive protests in Chandor. The speakers said great freedom fighters hailed from Chandor and led the State to liberation in 1961.
