PONDA: A day after 18 students residing in its premises tested COVID positive, the social organisation building at Dhavali was declared as micro containment zone by South Goa Collector Ruchika Katyal on Sunday.
Following the announcement, policemen have been deployed in a tent erected in front of the social organisation building and all the concerned officials have been directed to follow strict COVID guidelines.
The Kavlem school management where two Class X students of social organisation were studying has shut the school.
Kavlem sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said, “People should follow strict COVID guidelines and wear masks. The social organisation falls in my ward and all care is taken. Only the building of the social organisation has been declared as micro-containment zone. Of 38 students at the social organisation, 18 tested positive and have been kept in isolation.”
It is suspected the some students of the organisation may have contracted the infection following their recent visit to a temple.
