PANJIM: The eagerly awaited Carnival float parade will be held from February 18 onwards in four major towns of Goa. Porvorim and Morjim have been added as new locations for Carnival float parade in the list of Panjim, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa. Shigmo parade will be held from March 8.
The Goa Tourism Director Nikhil Desai held a meeting with committees involved in Shigmo and Carnival parade organisers and announced the dates for the Carnival float parade.
Carnival parade will be held on February 18 in Panjim, 19 in Margao, 20 in Vasco and on February 20 at Mapusa. “We shouldn’t allow the lowering of the quality of the floats and special emphasis will be laid to maintain the quality,” he said.
“Shigmo parades will not be allowed after 10 pm and if it continues we will restrict and stop the parade by 10. All the committees have been entrusted the job to enforce this,” said Desai.
“Most of the committees have said that they will stick to their traditional routes and Tourism Department will render all the needed help to them in a successful organisation of the parades,” Desai added.
