CM intervenes to solve garbage menace

MARGAO, NOV 16 In a bid to put a garbage management system in place for the commercial capital, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had a meeting with Margao municipal officials and civic chairperson Sushila Naik on Tuesday.

In a bid to put a garbage management system in place for the commercial capital, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat had a meeting with Margao municipal officials and civic chairperson Sushila Naik on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister sought a status report on the garbage collection system from the concerned officials and sought details on the manpower and machinery employed by the civic body for the garbage collection.
While offering his full support to the Civic body to get the city rid of the garbage, the chief minister called for immediately measures in that directions with the popular dindi festival underway in the city. In fact, the Chief Minister is believed to have issued strict directions to the officials to clear the city of the waste before the main dindi festival on November 19.
Against the backdrop of the Chief Minister’s directives, the Chairperson Sushila Naik visited various places in the city, including the Comba area, which will play host to the Dindi procession at the Vithal Mandir. The Municipal Chairperson is also believed to have taken note of the areas which have no illumination city as the Chief Minister has insisted on the illumination of the Dindi procession route on November 19.
The newly-elected Chairperson had a first hand experience with the garbage problem a day after taking over the reigns of office when she found mounds of waste in her Comba ward and no responsible officer around to take quick decision to clear the waste.
