KTC can do lot to solve commuters’ hardship

We are grateful to Kadamba Transport Corporation for rendering services to the people of Goa and neighbouring States but a lot can be done to alleviate commuters’ hardship.
For a very long time I have been observing, the local buses plying from Vasco to Panjim in the morning between 8 and 10 are packed. There are no inspectors to check the standing capacity frequently. It’s also observed that they don’t stop on the way, so senior citizens and other people need to wait for 40 minutes to an hour and more for a bus even to go to Goa Medical College and Hospital.
It is high time the chairman and concerned authorities try and accommodate another local bus or instead adjust the buses’ timings to ply within 15 to 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes or so. Shuttle or express buses are plying every 10 to 15 minutes in the morning hours.
What are other commuters supposed to do just wait and watch by the roadside and get tired waiting for buses and get ill? Having another bus will ease the problem of over loading the buses. I have personally observed 75/85 or more passengers packed in the buses and there is hardly any place to stand (mostly half being migrants) causing inconvenience to young ladies and senior citizens.
God forbid if there is an accident anytime over 75 passengers young and old can have serious injuries especially with all the road works going on in the State.
Another big issue outstanding to be resolved for a very long time is the buses plying between Margao and Vasco via Cortalim.  These buses ply every 30 to 35 minutes. Anytime one goes to Margao Kadamba Bus Stand, they have to wait long hours for the bus. All the passengers enroute Cortalim to Vasco have to come to Cortalim Junction by Panjim buses and alight at Cortalim Junction and catch another bus (i.e wait for another 10 to 15 minutes and pay more money) for going to Vasco and continue their bus journey. Buses from Margao to Vasco are plying via Birla thereby the passengers are denied the service and put in great inconvenience and hardship.  These are the basic services the government could easily provide and alleviate the common men’s problems.
Hope the KTC officials adhere to above issues and press some extra bus services thereby resolving environment issues. Instead of people driving their own cars and scooters making beelines on the roads, can easily take a bus ride for their day to day activities if the buses are punctual, even the school children’s problems can be solved.
