Wine shops down shutters in old Goa

OLD GOA: With the order prohibiting sale of liquor in Old Goa coming into force from Saturday, wine shop owners downed their shutters while bars and restaurants served only food and soft drinks to customers.

The dry days have been notified from November 30 to December 3, on account of the novena and feast of St Francis Xavier. Some bars and restaurants prominently displayed signboards stating that they were not serving any liquor but only food, while others politely told their customers that they were unable to serve liquor due to the order prohibiting the sale of liquor.Some owners who have put up bar and restaurant stalls at the fair affixed stickers to hide the word ‘Bar’ from their stalls.
