SANGUEM: Acting on a Herald report, the police authorities today stopped all four-wheelers from using the internal roads proceeding to the Wednesday market in Sanguem town.
The Sanguem market comes to life in the morning session with temporary hawkers selling their goods including fruits and vegetables put up their stalls at the market.
The market was initially started by side of the main road, but was subsequently shifted to the internal roads opposite to the electricity department and the Sanguem municipal building.
With the number of the people visiting the market increasing every passing Wednesday, very little space was left for the market visitors as the narrow lane was simultaneously used by four-wheelers.
The people visiting the stalls had to concentrate more on navigating the incoming vehicles coming from the both direction, as such, had urged the authorities to close the internal roads for vehicular movement during the morning session on market day.
With effect from Wednesday, four-wheeler movement on the busy internal road used by the hawkers was totally stopped by deputing policemen near the Government Primary Health Centre. A move which was welcomed by both the citizens and the hawkers as the people could shop in peace.
