Nitish, the former world school chess champion, who had been recently awarded the title of Candidate Master was unbeaten in Dubai.
The runner-up position comes soon after his silver medal winning performance in the Commonwealth Games Under-14 Chess Championship, at Glasgow, Scotland last month.
Nitish will now travel to Abu Dhabi to participate in the Abu Dhabi Open Junior Championship. Nitish’s coachDronacharya Raghunandan Gokhale hopes that Nitish goes all out at the Abu Dhabi Championship.
“Nitish needs to sharpen his game if he wants to beat Azeri and Kazakh opponents,” opined Gokhale from Mumbai.
The Abu Dhabi Chess Festival is played in two groups, masters and juniors.
The prestigious Dubai juniors championship was contested by many players from Azerbaijan, USA, Kazhakistan, UAE, Algeria, Brunei, Syria, Iran and India.
