NAVELIM/AMBELIM: Salgaocar FC edged past Corps of Signals 1-0 in the GFA Pro League match played at 3MTR ground Rawanfond, Navelim, on Friday.
It was the story of two goalkeepers; Ozen Silva for Corps of Signals who was under pressure right and went on to bring about a lot of saves for his team while Salgaocar FC goalkeeper, Naveen Kumar had a commendable performance for his team.
Salgaocar FC had the first shy at the goal as Kamo S Bayl went past a few defenders and took a power drive shot which was saved by Ozen Silva in the 9th minute for Corps.
Shubert Pereira for Corps in the 12th minute tried a shot at the rival goal however Salgaocar FC defender, Rosario Mendes tackled his move.
In the 40th minute it was Kamo for Salgaocar FC whose goal bound shot was saved by Corps goalkeeper in the 40th minute.
The second session saw Salgaocar FC making moves in the front through Kamo and Liston Colaco in the 49th and 56th minute but both the shots were saved by Ozen.
Ozen starred as he didn’t let a single goal pass even after Salgaocar FC’s desperate attempts and saved about six corners kicks from the rival team.
Corps of Signals Pawan Thakur grounder shot was easily saved by Salgaocar FC goalkeeper in the 87th minute.
Aslon Oliveira super-sub went on to break the deadlock for Salgaocar FC in the 90+7 minutes which got the deflection of Kamo Stephane after Aslon Oliveira shot from a distance; Ozen attempted however failed to make the save.
In another match, at Ambelim ground, Dempo SC defeated Guardian Angel SC 3-1.
Mohammed Yakubu opened the account for Guardian Angel in the 59th minute while Nickson Castana equalised in the 77th minute for Dempo SC.
Joaquim Abranches made it 2-1 for Dempo SC in the 82nd minute while Felix Chiddi drove the final nail in the coffin after he scored the third goal for Dempo SC in the 88th minute.
