Archana to represent India at Mrs Universe 2016

Bangalore born Archana Nagbhushan made her way to Goa in 2006, making this coastal state her home. She then represented the state in the Mrs India contest, where she was crowned Mrs India Universe. Archana will now represent the country at the Mrs Universe international beauty pageant in August 2016. Café catches up with the beauty queen who’s making Goa proud

Café:
How
do you feel about representing India at the international platform
that is the Mrs Universe pageant?

Archana
Nagbhushan:
Being
a beauty queen is an honour and responsibility, and it’s not easy;
it comes through a lot of effort, dedication, passion and hard work.
I feel honoured and happy at this achievement; at the same time, I
want to fulfil my dream of winning the Mrs Universe crown for my
country. If I succeed, it will be a special moment for India as we’ve
not won this title as yet.

HC:
How
was your journey so far?

AN:
Since
I am pursuing my passion, my inner calling, I have been enjoying the
process in every possible way. I love this journey as it is very
inspiring and exciting. Though the road is difficult, I feel
energised by the challenges of life!

HC:
Tell
us about your connection with Goa.

AN:
My
connection with Goa is very spiritual, deep rooted in mysticism. It
is difficult to express in words what I feel for this mystical land.
Since the time I started living here with my better half 10 years
ago, I’ve felt at home and, more importantly, Goa was the turning
point of my life. Also, as this is the first time Goa is being
associated with an international pageant, it is a great opportunity
for Goan corporate-based companies to support the beautiful women of
Goa, thereby reaching a global market through sponsorship.

HC:
How
are you preparing yourself for the Mrs Universe contest?

AN:
In
order to prepare for this international event, it is important to
stay positive, mentally. I also train for three hours every day in
order to stay fit, physically. I meditate and practise ‘natya yoga’
to bring balance physically and spiritually. I also maintain a
nutritious diet and take good care of my skin and hair. Specifically
for the pageant, I am rehearsing my catwalk, introduction speech and
my odissi dance routine for the talent round.
