Rs 5000 financial aid to those affected by COVID pandemic

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced a one-time Rs 5000 financial grant to those belonging to the marginal class and affected financially by the COVID pandemic.

Sawant said that marginal sections, especially those in traditional occupations as well as day-to-day employment, were hit hard due to the pandemic. He said that even MNAREGA workers can apply under the scheme.

“Government has decided to provide a small relief in the form of one-time financial assistance of Rs 5000 each. Though it is not a big amount, it will definitely provide some relief and I am sure people will take benefit of this,” he said, adding that the application forms will be available shortly. 

Sawant also announced that forms to claim ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh per family, would be available at deputy collector’s offices next week.

He said that the relief is given to families from weaker section, whose family member or bread earner succumbed to coronavirus.
