Another hotel traced dumping waste at Tolleband

Vigilant youth from Benaulim once again traced the hotel for dumping waste and garbage at the road junction at Tolleband.
This is the seventh case in the last fortnight that the youth of the village have successfully traced the hotels for dumping the waste on the road side in violation of rules.
In the instant case, an Udupi hotel from Mungul-Margao turned out to be the culprit after the youth successfully traced the hotel after sifting through the waste.
Roque Fernandes told Herald that the local youth have successfully intercepted and traced as many hotels dumping waste in Benaulim in the last 15 days. He demanded that the Goa Pollution Control Board and the local Benaulim panchayat should initiate strict action against the erring hotels.
Benaulim Sarpanch Carmelina Fernandes has complimented the local youth for once again intercepting a hotel for waste dumping at Tolleabandh. She has urged the authorities to intervene and maintain a vigil at selected points to prevent hotels from dumping waste, saying the situation might take a turn for the worse if hotels from neighbouring villages continue dumping waste in the village.
“Don’t blame the youth and villagers of Benaulim, if they take the law in their hands. Stop the menace before the situation takes a violent turn”, she warned.
The hotel owner was finally told to lift away the waste dumped at the road junction.
