PONDA: The family and locals with the help of the Ponda Police on Monday evening finally fished out the decomposed body of 36-year-old Deepak Tulshidas Naik, a resident of Borim, suspected to have committed suicide by jumping off from the Borim Bridge.
Mahesh Naik, the brother of deceased claimed that there was no helping hand from government to trace Deepak and since last four days we have been conducting the search operations to trace him.
Deepak is survived by five brothers and is learnt to be youngest member of the family.
Sandeep Naik, a member of the Goa Forward Party at Durbhat said there should be a government machinery to conduct search operation incase of suicide attempts. In the absence such help, the family members were forced to conduct the search operations using services of canoe operators.
He said if had been suicide case involving a VIP person, the Government would have launched the search operations on a war footing. On several occasions, the bodies are recovered either from Maina Curtorim police jurisdiction or from Durbhat jurisdiction of Ponda Police and therefore these areas need to be combed with the help proper government machinery.
Sandeep Naik and Durbhat locals said that Government should fence Borim bridge fence with railings at certain height so that no one attempts suicide by jumping off from the Bridge.
Naik said that another person, who is suspected to have committed suicide is learnt to be from Margao and his body is not yet found.
It may be recalled that on September 22, in two incidents reported at Borim Bridge, two persons are alleged to have committed suicide by jumping of the bridge.
