MARGAO: The Dramapur Sirlim gram sabha while approving an incomplete budget presented to it also resolved to provide ample parking space for the exposition of St Anthony’s relics scheduled in the village even if it means using panchayat land for the purpose.
It may be recalled that the Capuchin fathers are bringing the relics of St Anthony to Goa and it will be displayed at Alverno Friary Chapel at Monte de Guirim Bardez and at Padre Pio Chapel in Sirlim where it will be displayed from 3rd March afternoon till 4th March afternoon.
The gram sabha also approved a surplus budget as the income including the opening balance was Rs. 1,16,35,771 as against the projected expenditure of Rs. 86,06,000.
The panchayat showed only Rs. 2 lakhs as receipts from the government for garbage management even though it is supposed to receive Rs. 5 lakhs. Besides is projected Rs. 4 lakh as interest receivable on saving account.
The budget also had some unexplained expenditure marked as miscellaneous. While Rs 2 lakhs is shown under this head in the miscellaneous account in Administration it has provided Rs 50,000. Incidentally, the panchayat has also provided Rs 80,000 as advocate fees.
