PERNEM: The Pernem market vendors are disappointed that the Pernem Municipal Councils has failed to solve their grievances.
The depilated condition of market is a major cause of worry for the vendors, who say that the municipality has failed to repair the structure despite several requests.
The market is in a depilated condition since last several years and it worsened after a portion of the structure caved in last week.
Following this, the vendors were evacuated from the market, but were not provided alternate place for conducting their business.
Therefore, the vendors met the municipal Chairwoman Shweta Kambli on Thursday and demand that they be rehabilitated.
“The authorities evacuated us from the market within five minutes without providing an alternate place to continue our business,” a vendor said.
The vendors said that their request for permission to conduct their business on the road just outside the market was also rejected by the chairwoman.
They complained that the chairwoman failed to give a satisfactory answer to their question as to when the municipality would take up the repair work of the market and how long it would take to complete the work.
Meanwhile, the vendors have demanded that the municipality rehabilitate them immediately.
