PANJIM: The Public Works Department has submitted about four options to the Goa government on the concessional pass system for entry tax, officials said Wednesday, in order to appease the agitating transporters from across the borders over the government imposed entry tax on vehicles ~ including transport vehicle ~ coming into the state.

“We have worked out three to four options and the government will take a final call on the matter,” the Principal Chief Engineer, PWD J S Rego said Wednesday, but hastened to add that so far there was no decision taken as to when the pass system would be introduced.

However, he was not forthcoming on the details, given the sensitivity of the issue.

The government had proposed to introduce the same by May 10, however, the PWD minister, who is currently out of station, said that the concessions would be finalized by May 15.

The decision to have concessions for regular transporters who come into the state was taken after transporters had protested and blockaded supply of goods such as vegetables, milk and such commodities from coming into the state.
