71 City cops test negative

PANJIM: In a major relief, all 71 policemen in the jurisdiction of Panjim Police Station, who had undergone COVID-19 test in the last two days, have tested negative. 

Similarly, 619 jail officials and IRB personnel at Colvale Central Jail, and the prisoners have tested negative.

A total of 71 policemen including Police Inspector at Panjim Police Station, Traffic Cell, Wireless Unit and Police Control Room had undergone the test after a woman cleaner from Vasco tested positive for COVID-19. They had also quarantined themselves to as precaution. Sources said the policemen will now be back on duty as their reports are negative. 

Whereas the staff at the Colvale Jail and prisoners underwent the test last week after a jail guard – also from Vasco – tested positive. Around 7-10 staff, who had come in close contact with him, were asked to quarantine while others continued with their duty.
