UTORDA: Churchill Brothers U-13 boys defeated FC Goa 3-1 in the AIFF Youth League match, at Utorda ground, on Saturday.
In the 7th minute, Churchill’s striker Arnold Oliveira took control of the ball from midfielder Anish Gadar dribbled past FC Goa defender Sahil Imandar and shot from inside the box but FC Goa goalkeeper Micky Dias pushed away the ball to safety.
A minute later, FC Goa’s midfielder Sanket Patel tried a solo long ranger but failed to convert. It was Churchill’s Oscar Braganza hit long ranger shot which dipped into FC Goa nylons in the 15th minute of a well measured ball off Mark Pontes.
In the second half, FC Goa through Ryan Menezes came from the defence line came inside the Churchill box with the ball and shot it but the goalkeeper Jay Sharma was equal to the task in the 38th minute.
Six minutes later, Churchill netted the second through Payas Joshi’s placement shot. As the match progressed, Churchill netted the third through Arnold Oliveira’s ground shot.
A defensive error of Churchill brothers cost them a goal just before the final whistle as FC Goa’s substitute Shaviz Pathan scored 1-3.
