RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana scored a solitary goal victory over Dicarpale Sports Club in the final to emerge champions in the 23rd Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial football tournament organised by Associacao Academica de Majorda Utorda Calata at the Musson ground, Majorda, on Sunday.
The all-important goal came in the 18th minute of play through the boots of Gilbert Fernandes of Curtorim Gymkhana as he beat the defence and Dicarpale SC goalkeeper Francisco Colaco.
Curtorim Gymkhana were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy, while Dicarpale SC received Rs 40,000 plus trophies.
Goan Hockey Association President Abhay Bhamaikar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Nuvem Lions Club President John Gonsalves, special invitees – Goa Football Association’s Executive Committee members Constancio Rodrigues, Anthony Fernandes, Andrew Ferrao,
former Zilla Parishad member Nelly Rodrigues, Joaquim Silva, Anthony D’Costa, Francisco Nunes, Sarpanch Linet Vaz, Deputy Sarpanch Carlisto Rodrigues, other panch members, club officials and dignitaries.
