MAYEM: Businessmen from Sanquelim have unanimously resolved to undertake different measures to make Sanquelim a business hub.
The decision was taken at a special meeting of businessmen from Sanquelim city which was held at Dada Borkar hall, Sanquelim, under the guidance of Sanquelim MLA Dr Pramod Sawant.
During the discussion, it was pointed out that most of the people, who earlier used to visit Sanquelim market on the bazaar day, have diverted towards Honda or Marcel due to acute difficulties they have to face in the Sanquelim market area.
It was also pointed out that people from Kudne, Navelim, Amona and surrounding areas prefer to go to Marcel, while people from Karapur, Keri-Morlem, Poriem and surrounding areas go to Honda market.
The reasons being that at Sanquelim market, people cannot park their vehicles in a proper manner due to improper leveling of the road after it was repaired following completion of the sewage treatment plant work. The internal roads leading to the market are narrow and there are frequent traffic jams in the area.
It was decided to undertake some precautionary measures. It was also decided to make compulsory for all the businessmen to park their vehicles in front of their respective shops, make parking arrangements for people and vendors in CADA market and declare the main road proceeding to market as no-entry zone. Councillor Nisha Pokle assured to do a follow-up of the measures discussed during the meet.
