Car crashes into electricity cables

CALANGUTE: A Maruti-Alto car crashed into a huge wheel of underground electricity cables on the Arpora-Nagoa road on Saturday. No one was injured. The cables were kept on the side of the road outside the Arpora-Nagoa electricity sub-station for carrying out underground cabling in Arpora.

According to locals, the stretch of road from the sub-station to Nagoa circle is accident-prone. Arpora-Nagoa panchayat road safety and traffic management committee member Savio Teavasso said there is no police report on the incident with Anjuna police, while the car owner also took away his vehicle without informing anyone.

“The contractor needs to put signage warning traffic that underground cabling work is going on which was not done, because there could be more accidents,” he said.
