PANJIM: Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) has identified around six million tonnes of ore for the 18th phase of e-auction, the date for which is yet to be announced. Mines Director Prasanna Acharya said the e-auction would be held by end of this month.
The ore grade varies between 38 Fe content and 65 Fe content and is lying at various mining sites and beneficiary plants. In the last two years, DMG has so far conducted 17 e-auctions and sold 8.47 million tonnes of ore of the 15 million tonnes identified for the purpose. During the last e-auction phase in October, DMG received a very poor response with only 1.5 lakh tonnes, of the total 2 million tonnes on offer, getting sold.
