UTORDA: CAC Cansaulim beat United Club of Utorda by a 2-0 deficit to advance into the quarter-finals of the Lourdes Festival Soccer, all-Goa inter-village soccer, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Friday.
C.A.C Cansaulim started the play at fast pace as their strikers Cassio Soares and Josset Barretto made way into the rivals half but the Utorda defenders Clinton Rata and Kevien Fernandes stood rock solid.
Post resumption, Cansaulim changed their strategy and their striker Richard Rodrigues scored in the 40th minute through a defensive lapse.
In the 46th minute, Roysal Teodosio scored through a cross made by Canssio Soares where the fromer beat the goalkeeper to drive the ball at the back of the nylons. At 50th minute, Cansaulim’s Melody Correira struck a powerful shot which missed the target by few inches.
Alister Monterio of Utorda made several attempts in the rival half to reduce the margin but his opportunities went in vain.
