SERAULIM: SCC Loutolim defeated Chandor Club, 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Village Panchayat Seraulim Cup, in memory of late Ligorio Gomes, organised by United Sports Club Seraulim, at Seraulim ground, on Friday.
In the 2nd minute, Dickson Alves of Loutolim almost netted for his side but a timely header clearance by Rosario Fernandes for Chandor Club was the best attempt of the match.
Four minutes later, Loutoulim netted the first through Brysen Fernandes who tapped the ball in off a Sandip Konde assist.
Minutes later, Jovito Carvalho missed two big opportunities for Chandor through Jovito Carvalho to score in the 37th and 39th minutes but the Loutolim keeper, Flager Moraes the Man-of-the-Match saved his side on both occasions. Agnes Vaz of Chandor dribbled past Steve Gomes and Anthony Vaz of Loutolim and shot the ball but to his dismay the rival keeper saved it brilliantly.
Just two minutes before for the final whistle, a set piece worked out by Sandip Konde and Brison Fernandes for Loutolim should have earned them the second goal but Presley Mascarenhas the goalkeeper of Chandor pushed the ball to safety.
