MARGAO: Margao Police have registered a case against two persons for brutally assaulting a youngster Basavraj Kyalakond at Old market Margao early Saturday morning causing serious injuries to the youngster specially on his eye.
Apparently two persons named Manor and Pritesh arrived in a car and assaulted Basavraj who was on his way to the public toilet at Old market. However, as Basavraj managed to escape and inform his family about the assault, seeing the gathering crowd the duo fled the scene leaving behind the car that they were travelling in.
Police have seized the car (GA-07/C-0341) and are awaiting the arrest.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father Ishwarapa Basappa Kyalakond has accused the police of siding with the rich as they have failed to arrest the criminals despite knowing their identity. He said poor people like him feel insecure when police adopt such biased methods for dealing with crimes.
