CS urged to complete land acquisition process for Kabrastan

The Muslim community has reminded the Chief Secretary that the promise to complete the process of acquisition of land for the burial ground as per the 1999 State Legislative Assembly resolution within six months has elapsed sans acquisition of the land in question.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary, Abdulmatin Carol of the Sirvodem Masjid has said that district Collector, South G P Naik had sought six months time from the National Commission for the Minorities to complete the land acquisition process. He reminded that as per the request of the district Collector, the National Commission for the minorities had granted six months time to complete the process of land acquisition for the Kabarastan as per the resolution passed by the state Legislative Assembly in 1999.
Saying that necessary documents for processing the land acquisition as per the state government’s resolution was submitted to the office of the district Collector on November 11, 2009, Carol, however, said that he had till date not received any cooperation as regards to the availability of documents on the subject as agreed before the Commission.
He further said that the authorities have not compiled with the directions given in the order passed by the National Commission of Minorities, New Delhi and hoped that the Chief Secretary would offer full support to the minority community to solve the long standing problem of burial ground.
