PANJIM: CCP said that around 10 to 12 percent shop owners in the capital city have either not renewed their trade and occupation licences while others have not taken up licenses for the last many years.
CCP Commissioner Ajit Roy said this was discovered after the corporation undertook a survey of the trade and occupation licences in the city. Roy said, “The figure is around 10 to 12 per cent, so if we complete this survey I believe that trade and occupation fees will go up by 12 per cent. Similarly for house tax a survey has been undertaken by the Smart City team because the Government of India has authorised all smart cities to survey for house tax to enhance municipal finance.” Roy said CCP collected around Rs 12.5 cr from house tax whereas Rs 3 cr came from trade and occupation fees during the current financial year.
