CM urges officials to co-operate for development of Pale constituency

MAYEM, MAY 12 Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Wednesday called upon administrative officials to provide wholehearted co-operation for the all-round development of Pale constituency.

Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Wednesday called upon administrative officials to provide wholehearted co-operation for the all-round development of Pale constituency.
He was addressing the villagers during the visit to village panchayats in Pale constituency. Chief Minister Kamat was accompanied by Pale MLA Pratap Gawas, Bicholim Deputy Collector Narayan Gad, Mamlatdar Pramod Bhat, Kudne ZP member Fondu Sawant, Pale ZP member Laxmikant Parab and other government officials.
Speaking further, Kamat advised the officials not to put hurdles of rules and regulations to the people while clearing the files of providing basic amenities like roads, water and electricity to the people.
Kamat assured the people of tackling mining dust pollution problem. “I am fully aware that it will be solved in a step-by-step manner after having face-to-face discussions with the mining lobby and other concerned departments,” he said.
Reacting to the queries raised by panchayat members about rash and negligent attitude of mining companies and truck owners while conducting mining activities, Kamat directed the panchayat to stop mining work with immediate effect in the area, where such things take place, as the panchayat authority is the supreme body.
Later, Kamat visited Kudne, Amona, Pale, Velguem, Surla and Sanquelim and heard the grievances of the people.
The villagers complained that mining companies and truck owners are reportedly acting in a dominating manner and undertake excavating activities at any places as per their whims and fancies.
The villagers also complained that most mining companies have now resolved to employ non-Goans sidelining the locals due to which locals are refrained from getting employed. Chief Minister Kamat assured them to look into the matter.
Kamat also assured to provide financial assistance to farmers from Pale constituency, who suffered losses during the last monsoon.
He said he will hold a high level committee meeting regarding the solution of all the problems and would visit the constituency again.
Kamat also assured to undertake work of Amona-Virdi Bridge as early as possible.
Sanquelim panchayat authorities informed the chief minister that flood and control measures work is being suffered due to of lack of labourers, however Kamat instructed the concerned officials to look into the matter.
