Access road to St Francis Church, Harbour in three months: Milind

VASCO: For the faithful and other tourists visiting the St Francis Church located on a hillock near Mormugao harbour, there is reason to cheer as the decades’ old demand for an access road to the church will be fulfilled in another three months.

The centuries-old chapel was upgraded to a Church in 1971 but the only access was through
stairs from the upward side of MPT hillock or from the downward side of Mormugao Harbour due to which devotees, especially senior citizens, faced severe hardships.
However, Power Minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik approached the Central government in order to put pressure on MPT to give land on which a six-metre wide road and parking facility for 300 cars will be constructed. Beside, the area, which MPT has given for a public cause would also see beautification works in the second phase of development.
