PANJIM: The Janhit Party, which was recently founded in Mumbai, has announced that it will contest both the North and South Goa Lok Sabha seats for the ensuing elections on the plank of administrative, judicial and police reforms.
Announcing this Friday, National Party president of the Janhit Party, Clifford Martis said that they believe they can make inroads into Goa’s electoral scene on these issues.
“If India has to prosper, economic reforms that have been brought in by the UPA alone cannot be the solution. We believe that there needs to be administrative, judicial and police reforms,” Martis said.
He also hit out at ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul” attitude of the Parrikar government with regard to the reducing petrol prices and subsequent introducing entry tax, as well as the law and order issues.
In Goa, the party has over 100 members. The party made its first foray into electoral politics by contesting the Mumbai municipal elections where it lost all seats but attained the third position in one seat thereby ensuring a split in votes between the Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Nariman Sena. Martis said that the party will begin by holding various public meetings.
